Xcelsius Dashboards and Your Paperless Office

A new article shows just how much of a paper saver dashboards are.
The first encounter I had as kid with environmental conservation was a Ranger Rick story about a stream polluted with all manner of litter, from soda cans to old sneakers. Not littering is the first conservation lesson that most of us get taught. The second, of course, is recycling.
We seem to be interested in paper in particular. We’ve all been told to “save a tree” and print double-sided, or not print at all. Some of us (myself included) will guiltily label ourselves “tree-butchers,” because we still feel the need to print certain things in order to read them.
With the spread of digital media, one would think that we were using less of the stuff, but according to Inform, the number only started decreasing recently, and not by much. In 2006, we used 663 pounds of paper per person, compared to 725 pounds per person in the year 2000.1
Here this week to give you a little less tree-butcher guilt is Jim Brogden, about the environmental and business benefits of Xcelsius Dashboards. Brogden sees Dashboards replacing those big stacks of printed reports in the long run, and not just for environmental reasons. For more about how Dashboards save you paper and give you better data, check out Brogden’s article right here on BusinessObjects Expert, “Self-Service Green Analysis with SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards (Xcelsius).”
