SAP releases Service Pack 4 for Xcelsius 2008, and we hear dates for several other SAP BO releases.
Our friends over at Everything Xcelsius report that Service Pack 4 for Xcelsius 2008 has been released by SAP. It’s a cumulative patch that can be downloaded from the SAP Community Network. The new service pack offers support for 32-bit Windows 7 and Office 2010.
The new version includes the much-anticipated waterfall chart function, combination charts with alerts for more than one series, and alerts for spreadsheet components. Barely three days after the announcement, MyXcelsius has already posted a tutorial about how to create waterfall charts, complete with step-by-step directions and examples. It’s worth a look.
It’s worth remembering with this new release that SAP will no longer be supporting BusinessObjects XI R2 after June 30, 2011. SAP stopped issuing patches for this version last June, and tech support will cease at the end of this month. Users will not be able to open new support tickets in SAP Support after June 30th.
Finally, PC World reports that SAP will release Crystal Server 2011 and BusinessObjects Edge 4.0 this coming July, at nearly the same time as the release of the enterprise-level BusinessObjects 4.0. This is unusual, given that there is usually a six to eight week period between the enterprise and SME versions of BusinessObjects releases. The dates for the release of all three, however, remain unofficial.
SAP mentor Ingo Hilgefort has been quoted as saying that SAP BO 4.1 will enter ramp-up early this fall.
We’ll keep you updated as more news becomes available regarding all of these products.
